About Jana

Jana Hutcheson lives and teaches in the same Alabama town where she grew up. Her first story—a melodramatic piece of Outsiders-inspired fanfiction—was rediscovered years later in her parents’ attic and promptly thrown away. Due to a packed schedule, a perfectionist streak that only kicks in when she’s writing, and a string of unexpected life events, it took her fourteen years to finish The Spring in Trulee Holler. Her quirks include being a picky eater and filling every quiet moment with eclectic playlists. Besides spending time with her family, she loves long afternoon walks, greasy burger joints, and the smell of burning leaves.
